Orlando Ballet announced the lineup for their 2024/2025 season Wednesday, and it's chock full of crowd-pleasers. The season, running from Oct. 17 through May 4, 2025,  kicks off this autumn with Romeo & Juliet, from there segueing into holiday tradition The Nutcracker and then Peter Pan in early 2025. This week, I flew up to New York City to see Water for Elephants: The Musical and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway, touching down back in Orlando only a couple of hours before the opening night of Mrs. Doubtfire: The New Musical Comedy at the Dr. Phillips Center. After six straight hours of watching page-to-screen-to-stage adaptations, you’ll forgive me if I was half-rooting for a flight delay to spare me sitting through yet another, especially since the last touring movie musical about a cross-dressing cis-het actor I reviewed was the trainwreckTootsie.

1 day ago DeSantis approves $200 million boost for My Safe Florida Home grant program
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday approved $200 million to continue a popular home-hardening grant program that could help about 20,000 mostly low- and moderate-income residents cut property-insurance costs. DeSantis signed two bills related to the My Safe Florida Home grant program and said he also intends to support an additional $30 million in the state budget aimed at expanding the program to include condominiums.
