We are thrilled to announce our Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration in Winter Park, FL, "A Night Under the Stars: Jazz & Jubilee at Shady Park," on Saturday, June 15th, 2024, from 5 to 10 pm! Join us for an unforgettable evening of live jazz, delicious food, and vibrant spirits, all under the starry skies, sponsored by The City of Winter Park and The Equity Council Corp., a Black-owned nonprofit serving Hannibal Square since 2018.
Held at the beautiful Shady Park, this summer's Juenteenth celebration promises an exhilarating night of music from top jazz musicians. Experience the magic of 5x Grammy-nominated bass player Tarus Mateen and vocalist Tamika Love Jones of Beyond Genre Music. Delight in the soulful sounds of Royale from Jacksonville, and be captivated by Orlando's own Daphne Cooper. Our featured house band, Sam Sanders and Cliché Entertainment, returns to rock the night with lead vocals by Daniel from The Daniel Music Experience, blending R&B, Soul, Pop, and Jazz for a spectacular show. Don't miss Tanita Fadyeyola with First World Drummers and Dancers during our opening ceremony, honoring our ancestors through powerful performances. DJ AjSimmons, aka Tony the "Sound Guy" of Simmons Entertainment, will set the vibe, while our distinguished hostess, Mrs. Lawanda Thompson, M.Ed., President of Equity Council Corp., will guide us through the evening.
Indulge in delectable dishes from local celebrity chef Nicholas Allman of Catered Delight and enjoy a variety of spirits at our onsite bar. Support Black-owned businesses by exploring cultural wear, custom jewelry, art, and more from our local vendors at The SOKO Marketplace.
Come celebrate freedom, community, and the power of music in the historic African American Community of Hannibal Square in Winter Park, FL. Last year's event sold out, so RSVP promptly! Our Juneteenth Celebration is a rain-or-shine event, with an indoor location at the Winter Park Community Center if needed. Interested businesses, retail stores, and food vendors can register at: [https://tinyurl.com/Juneteenth-2024-Vendor-WP](https://tinyurl.com/Juneteenth-2024-Vendor-WP]or text 407-490-2902 for more information.
