The music style of the Built to Spill is described as the Indie rock genre. It was founded by former Treepeople guitarist/vocalist Doug Martsch along with Brett Netson and Ralf Youtz. The current three members included in Built to Spill are Doug Martsch, Melanie Radford, and Teresa Esguerra. Ultimate Alternative Wavers was the first album by the band, which was released in 1992.
