Rebuild Globally, a nonprofit fighting poverty in Haiti will host its signature fundraiser, Runway to Haiti: A Night of Impact & Ethical Fashion on March 8. All proceeds from the event will go toward educating and employing Haitians so they can support themselves while living happier lives.
Orlando Charity Raises Funds For Haiti With Ethical Fashion
The highlight of the event will be a fashion show featuring clothing from prominent Haitian designers leading the way in fashion in Haiti, plus the launch of the 2018 Deux Mains collection. Deux Mains is a for-profit business started by REBUILD Globally that creates sandals and accessories from repurposed tires and high-quality leathers. The event will also feature a Deux Mains pop-up boutique, a silent auction, and special guest appearances.
REBUILD Globally was established in 2010 after the devastating earthquake struck Haiti, and since then, has been trying to change the system that keeps the poor impoverished. REBUILD Globally provides education, job training, and leadership development as a way toward prosperity. Many of the REBUILD Globally trainees are given job opportunities at Deux Mains, where they earn a sustainable, living wage.
Since the Runway to Haiti event falls on International Women's Day, March 8, the theme will be incorporated into the evening. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Country Club of Orlando. Heavy appetizers will be served with a cash bar. Tickets for general admission are $79. VIP tickets are available for $129 and include front-row seats to the runway show, entrance into the VIP lounge with champagne and a gift bag.
