Description
A 90-minute tour of the "Wild West of the South" known as Ybor City. A place where organized crime ran wild and was the hottest spot for Caribbean Rum during Prohibition.
Event Details
100 years ago, The United States of America passed an amendment that banned the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol. Prohibition didn’t birth organized crime, but it strengthened it to a superpower in America. The bicep of its strength coming from ports around America’s coast... one of the biggest? Tampa, FL.
Ybor City became the biggest distributor of Caribbean Rum and was quickly turned into “The Wild West of The South” aka “Vegas before Vegas.” Full of gangsters, brothels, gambling, corruption, and murder.
Once a month, your favorite Tampa tour guides at Ybor City Historic Walking Tours & The Official Ybor City Ghost Tour will be offering a gangland tour to tell the stories of the biggest mobsters in America and their roles on these historic streets. This special event will be by reservation only. Spots are limited.
Saturday, March 13th at 4pm. For more details, call (813) 386-3905
