The city beautiful has played host to many major sporting events over the last year. With the Camping World Stadium revamp and the new Orlando City Soccer Stadium it's no wonder Orlando is often the desired destination. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise to hear that Orlando could host 2026 World Cup matches!

It was recently announced that Orlando has earned a spot on the United Bid. Comprised of the United States, Mexico, and Canada, if the United Bid is selected to host the 2026 World Cup Games then 16 cities of the 23 will be hosting World Cup matches.  This is potentially big news for the city of Orlando.

"Today's announcement that Orlando remains among a shortened list of just 23 official candidate host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup speaks volumes about our community's ability to welcome events of this magnitude. From our recently reconstructed Camping World Stadium to our hospitality and tourism expertise, to our unwavering passion and support for the world's sport, we have all the ingredients to deliver a resounding success."  Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer

Camping World Stadium Orlando Could Host FIFA World Cup 2026

Orlando has been a host for the FIFA World Cup Games in 1994 and hosted the U.S. vs. Panama World Cup Qualifier match at Orlando City Stadium to a sold out crowd of 25,303 fans.  If Orlando is chosen once again, the World Cup match will take place at Camping World Stadium. The venue is short on seating compared to other stadiums on the list but if chosen accommodations could be made to resolve that issue.

FIFA will vote on the United Bid Committee's application in June.
