Description
"Hooley" is Irish slang for party or celebration. There will be several top Irish bands playing traditional and rock tunes, structured set dancing called the Ceili, Celtic face painting and authentic food and beverages.
Event Details
A new “Rhythms of Raglan” show has been developed for this year. The 90-minute music and dance show was directed by David Hayes (Riverdance, The Voice: Ireland Edition) and choreographed by Michael Donnellan (Lord of the Dance). The show plays at 4:00pm on September 2 and 1:00 and 4:00pm on September 3, 4, and 5.
Bands include:
Screaming Orphans – Four sisters from Bundoran in County Donegal sing traditional Ceili music fused with pop and rock.
Jake Richardson – From Dublin, this singer-songwriter showcases his unique vocals and style.
Flat Out – This award-winning four-piece band hails from the West of Ireland. They play a mix of folk, traditional, pop, and New World music using the Irish harp, guitar, fiddle, tin whistle, flute, button accordion, and bodhran.
Marianne Fraser Band – Marianne is a guitarist and songwriter, who is accompanied by a fiddle, whistle and pipes in their blend of traditional and modern songs.
Swingin’ On the Gate – This four-piece band comes form Lisdoonvarna in County Clare. They have blended traditional and classical styles to create their own award-winning sound.
The Raglan Roots Coalition – Raglan Road’s house band plays Celtic bluegrass with a funky roots sound.
The High Road – Young Irish musicians who formed the group in University, they play British folk, blues, soul, and Irish traditional music.
Cooney & Ryan – Traditional Irish music duo who often invites the crowd to sing along.
The Raglan Road Irish Dancers – The house dancers will perform throughout the weekend and even teach the crowd some traditional Irish dance steps. In addition to learning the dances, kids will also enjoy the Celtic face-painting.
