Orlando Police Department is a nationally recognized law enforcement agency that is focused on the safety of their residents, visitors and businesses. Their job is to protect the citizens of Orlando and they intend to accomplish that mission, even at the risk of their own lives.
This was the case for Lieutenant Debra Clayton. Debra, a 17-year-veteran of the force, was killed on January 9, 2017 by murder suspect Markeith Lloyd in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Lloyd was wanted in the murder of his girlfriend.
Debra left behind a husband and one son. She was a community activist and her message was that the police is there for you and here to help you. She was a great leader and led by example. Her goal was to unite Orlando.
