Now in its 21st year, the Florida Film Festival has established itself as the premier independent and foreign cinema festival in this great state of ours.

Next to other great local film fests like the Sunscreen Film Festival and Gasparilla International Film Festival, the Florida Film Festival is living proof that our state plays home to some seriously good filmmaking. This year, the Florida Film Festival will go down from April 13 through April 22 at a handful of locations throughout the Orlando area.

There will be over 160 cutting-edge films, 100 visiting filmmakers, plenty of special guests, and non-stop events throughout the festival's 10 day run.  Theaters showing films during the 2012 Florida Film Festival include the main theater, the Enzian Theater (1300 South Orlando Avenue) as well as the Garden Theater (160 West Plant Street), and Regal Winter Park Village (510 North Orlando Avenue).

The Florida Film Festival kicks off with their opening night film, Renee on Friday, April 13.  Inspired by the true story of Renee Yohe,  Renee details the struggle and redemption of a troubled teen caught in a vicious cycle of drug addiction, alcohol abuse, and self-injury.  The film stars Kat Dennings, Chad Michael Murray, Rupert Friend, and Corbin Bleu.

Other films at the Florida Film Festival include Documentaries like An Affair of the Heart, Bury the Hatchet, The Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best, and many more.  For a full list of Florida Film Festival films and descriptions, visit www.floridafilmfestival.com.
