Spring is finally here, and with it comes some of the best shows Miami has to offer. If you’re a fan of theater and live dancing, or just want to see something out of the ordinary, then don’t miss a different kind of evening by attending these April shows in Miami with your friends and family. Gloria

Critically -cclaimed dramedy written by Branden Jacob-Jenkins, Gloria focuses on the everyday lives of a group of American workers as a horrific act of violence suddenly changes their lives forever. The witty play has been nominated for many awards and will be running at the Biltmore Hotel Miami Coral Gables from April 7 to May 6. Tickets will be available at the box office.

Silk Road Ensemble with YO-YO MA

Famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma plays alongside 11 other great musicians in this unique event that will be held on April 23 in the Knight Concert Hall At The Adrienne Arsht Center. The ensemble tours the world with their amazing music helmed by Yo-Yo Ma featuring emblematic tunes from countries like Spain, Syria, and Vietnam to bring understanding and appreciation for music from foreign cultures.

Pod Tours America

On Friday, April 8, join a few of Barack Obama’s staffers for a live version of their political podcast: Pod Save America. If you still have hope for this country and have a sense of humor about everything that’s going on right now, then be sure to check them out. His staffers give it to you straight and, who knows, you might even learn how to get through these strange times!

Miami City Ballet: La Valse

Visit the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts at 1300 Biscayne Blvd. and witness the Miami City Ballet’s performance of George Balanchine’s La Valse. From April 13 to April 15, join 34 of Miami’s best dancers in a dark and gloomy show that will keep you on the edge of your seats while simultaneously enjoying the incredibly chilling music of Maurice Ravel.

La Boheme

The original inspiration for Rent, La Boheme is a beautiful story with compelling characters that focuses on a young group of bohemians in 19th-century Paris as they struggle to survive different hardships some still face today. From April 14 to April 15, get front row tickets to the show coming this spring to the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay.

Cirque Du Soleil's Sep7imo Dia - No Descansare

Witness Cirque du Soleil’s tribute to the legendary Argentinian rock band Soda Stereo as they dance, dive, and flip as only Cirque Du Soleil knows how. This April show in Miami is separated into different acts that are appropriately named after a few of Soda Stereo’s biggest hits. You won’t want to miss this special performance coming through April 18 to 22 to the Watsco Center ​in Coral Gables.

Queen of Basel

From Hilary Bettis, the acclaimed writer who brought you FX’s The Americans, and Venezuelan-born director Michel Hausmann, comes this brand-new take on Strindberg’s timeless classic: Miss Julie. Set during Art Basel in Miami Beach, the play follows our spoiled Julie as she must confront a woman fleeing from Venezuela's insecurity and her Cuban fiancé. The world premiere of Queen of Basel is scheduled to open at the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach and will be running from April 12 to May 6.
