Disney theme parks are worlds of fantasy, lined to the brim with the imaginary tales and characters so many of us have grown to love.  And, while faster entry, quicker payments, and shorter lines than ever at these parks may seem like the stuff of fantasy, they're about to become all the more real when Disney premiers its new, high-tech vacation management system, MyMagic+, within the next few months.

According to the New York Times, MyMagic+ will drastically change the way the 30 million visitors to Disney World do just about everything at the park.

Of course, "vacation management system" is just an attractive phrase used to describe the new MyMagic+ wristbands, or MagicBands.  Park guests can use MagicBands for everything from speedy entry into the park to food purchases, restaurant reservations, hotel room keys, and integration with smartphones to let you know when its time to ride certain rides without waiting in line.

The MyMagic+ system and MagicBands will be integrated with Disney's FastPass+ service, which includes choices for reserving parade and firework viewing areas, shows, and character greetings, all of which change be changed and added at the drop of a hat with one's smartphone.

For the MyMagic+ system to work, though, Disney will be venturing farther into the often-debated territory of personal data collection.  While some park guests likely won't mind Disney having their personal information for the sake of convenience, others could have trouble warming up to the new system if they do have personal data privacy concerns.

Only time will tell, though.  The MyMagic+ system is expected to begin sometime in the spring.  We'll keep you posted as more news arises regarding Disney in Orlando and the MyMagic+ system.
