The Thornton Park District is probably one of the most dog-friendly areas in Orlando. From the fur baby friendly restaurant patios, beautiful Lake Eola Park and the pet boutiques, spas and bakeries surrounding every corner it comes as a surprise that an actual dog park hadn't been developed sooner.  Well, better late than never! On Thursday, October 13th Thornton Park celebrated the opening of the first Dog Park in Downtown Orlando. 

City Of Orlando Celebrates New Downtown Dog Park

At 6pm on Thursday evening, the city of Orlando and it's furry four-legged residents gathered round as Mayor Buddy Dyer and City Commissioner Patty Sheehan officiated the ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening the first dog park in the Thornton Park District. The grand opening featured the Thornton Park District Dog costume contest judged by Dyer and Sheehan.  The winner pictured above received a basket full of goodies provided by Woof Gang Bakery And Grooming Thornton Park. Thornton Park restaurants:  The Stubborn MuleBaoery Asian GastropubGraffiti Junktion Thornton ParkDexters Thornton Park, The Falcon and RAW Juicing And Detox Bar provided sustenance for the humans. 

The dog run at Constitution green is a leash-free dog park and will be open from 6am-11pm. The park includes benches, fire hydrants and plenty of room to run guaranteeing your canine kids will have a great time. Grab your pooch and check it out for yourself.
